SpaceX Options Launch Tuesday as Warsh Debuts Fed Leadership, Triple Witching Day Follows

According to Cboe Global Markets, a series of significant market catalysts are converging this week during a shortened four-day trading period. SpaceX options contracts are set to begin trading on Tuesday (June 17), with multiple market participants expecting high trading volumes similar to Tesla options, which remain among the most actively traded single-stock contracts in the U.S. market. Analysts warn that a potential gamma squeeze could amplify stock price volatility if retail investors heavily purchase call options.

Fed Chairman Kevin Warsh will hold his first regular press conference since taking office on Wednesday (June 18), with traders closely monitoring his remarks on inflation risks. The S&P 500 options market is currently pricing in expected volatility of approximately 70 basis points around this event. Additionally, the quarterly triple witching expiration, when index and single-stock options expire alongside futures contracts, occurs on Thursday (June 19) instead of Friday due to the Juneteenth holiday. S&P 500 index rebalancing will also take effect Thursday, with Marvell and Flex being added while Pool and Campbell's are removed.
