Storage Stocks Drop Up to 9.92% as Nvidia Cuts Vera Rubin Server Memory Config; Institutions Clarify HBM Demand Unaffected

According to BlockBeats citing a SemiAnalysis report, global storage chip stocks fell sharply on June 6 following reports that Nvidia would reduce SOCAMM system memory from 192GB to 96GB on its next-generation Vera Rubin NVL72 server platform. SK Hynix dropped 9.92%, while China's A-share semiconductor index fell approximately 4%, with storage makers Baize and Longsys among the worst performers. Micron Technology had declined 7.74% in the prior trading session.

Multiple institutions subsequently clarified that the adjustment applies only to CPU-side pluggable SOCAMM modules as a temporary optimization and does not affect GPU-related HBM (high-bandwidth memory) demand. Analysts noted the AI hardware bottleneck is shifting from computing power to memory, with industry participants expecting storage supply constraints to persist through 2027.
