Two Iraqi Militia Groups Declare Withdrawal from PMU, Place Weapons Under State Control

According to Xinhua, on June 2, two Iraqi Shiite militias, the Nujaba Movement (League of the Righteous) and Asaib Ahl al-Haq (Kataib Imam Ali), declared their withdrawal from the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMU) and placed their weapons under state control. Iraq's largest parliamentary bloc, the Coordination Framework Alliance, convened on June 1 to express support for restricting weapons strictly to state authority.
