Visa, OpenAI Expand Partnership to Enable AI Agent Purchases on June 11

According to Bloomberg, Visa and OpenAI expanded their partnership on June 11 to enable AI agents to make online purchases with user approval. Visa's payment capabilities are now integrated into OpenAI experiences through Visa Intelligent Commerce.

Agent-initiated transactions will operate within user-set controls, including spending limits, merchant categories, and required approvals. The integration supports guest checkout and card-not-present payment processes, with agent platforms handling most integration work.
