Amazon and Corning Partner to Expand US Fiber Production, Create 1,000 Jobs

According to Amazon, the company and Corning signed on June 8 a multibillion-dollar, multi-year deal to expand US production of optical fiber and connectivity products for data centers. The partnership will create 1,000 jobs at Corning's facilities in North Carolina. Under a related agreement Corning signed with Nvidia in May, the companies aim to increase US optical connectivity manufacturing capacity by 10 times and domestic fiber production by more than 50%.
